Inaugural Super 14 - "D" was the key

28/05/06 So that's that then... the fat lady (with the Canterbury accent) has sung and somewhere
in the farcical pea-souper that was the final, the 'Saders secured their 6th Super title.

Despite the 2006 competition being elongated by 25 matches, the
Crusaders, Hurricanes,
and Waratahs all conceded fewer tries this year than in their previous 10 years of Super 12.

We saw some stunning attacking rugby but winning the first Super 14 was all about Defence.

This is pick & go's new Super Rugby ranking table
which shows the ranking point positions of each
team since the first Super12 match in 1996.

Each team started on 80 points and they move up
and down relative to each other using the same
points exchange system that the IRB use for
ranking Test matches.

Exchange points are doubled for semis & finals.
